Job Title: Transport Compliance Manager
Reports to: Regional Operations Manager
Depot: LWC Manchester

Job Summary

The Transport Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of driver and vehicle compliance at LWC's Manchester depot. The operation consists of a mixed fleet of 22 vehicles, including Class 1, Class 2, 7.5-tonne HGVs and vans, supported by a team of 23 core drivers.

The role ensures full compliance with transport legislation, company policies, and health and safety standards, while supporting the efficient and safe operation of the transport function.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• In-depth knowledge of EU Drivers' Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive, with the ability to effectively debrief infringements and coach drivers to prevent repeat offences.
• Strong understanding of transport compliance requirements, including PMIs, MOTs, LOLER inspections and tachograph calibrations.
• Ability to plan and manage preventative maintenance schedules using maintenance planning systems.
• Experience coordinating vehicle repairs with minimal operational disruption.
• Ability to review and analyse maintenance documentation, including PMI reports, brake test results and compliance certificates, taking appropriate action where required.
• Strong people management skills, including absence management, investigations, disciplinary hearings, recruitment and employee retention.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence and support colleagues at all levels.
• Effective problem-solving abilities and the capability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of operational impacts.


Qualifications:

• Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
• CPC in Road Haulage Operations (Preferred)
• Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence
• Health and Safety qualifications such as IOSH (Desirable)
